Is A First-Look Right for Your Wedding Day?

Updated: Dec 8, 2021

So you're engaged? CONGRATULATIONS! You've entered into one of the most exciting times of your life! Planning a wedding can be a blast, but can also be super stressful. There are a TON of big decisions to make about your wedding day, and one of the biggest questions we see is "Should we do a first-look?"

Well, after seeing hundreds of weddings, we're here to give you some insight!

First off, we have to stress that this is YOUR day! Whatever you and your fiancé decide is right for you is 100% OK! This is a deeply personal choice that only you two can make at the end of the day. We're just here to give you an inside perspective, whatever you decide, your wedding is going to be AWESOME!

First-looks have become more and more popular within the last few years, and there's a lot of reasons why...

One of the biggest reasons couples do a first look is for your photos and video. When you do a first look, you're able to knock out a lot of those important photos before the ceremony, leaving you with more time to join the cocktail hour or reception! This is great if you have a limited amount of time at your reception venue or if the sun is setting soon after your ceremony. Not to mention the photos from the first-look are often some of the most beautiful and emotional shots of the day!

Another pro to doing a first-look is that intimate moment with you and your spouse-to-be before all the craziness really kicks off. You two get a few minutes to take in that you're about to be MARRIED!

If you're full of nerves, a first look can calm you both down and allow you to be more excited than nervous! You get to share that special moment when you first see each other in a more private setting and get those nerves out.

Well, you might be thinking, this sounds awesome! What are the cons? To be honest, we love doing first-looks and our con list is pretty short! BUT, if you've been dreaming your whole life about seeing your significant other down the aisle for the first time, that may be a moment worth having!

However, many couples are concerned that having the first-look will make the ceremony less emotional...Brides, this is not true! We've had couples spend all morning together, and the second they walk down that aisle INSTANT TEARS!

Whatever you decide to do, we are here for you and support your choice! Either way, it's going to be one of the best days of your life and we can't wait!

If you have any questions about your wedding day and want to connect with us we would LOVE to hear from you!
